Hey Everyone!
So today I was transferred. I have all my bags packed and am just waiting for the boat to arrive. That's right! I'm taking a boat to my next area! I was transferred to an area called Guadujá. So I am excited and ready for some new adventures!
With this week came some wanted water on both sides. São Paulo has been really dry for a while now and needed some rain. It rained this weekend, and we got some people wet! Our area had an inspirational baptism. A few weeks ago the Elders found George. Drinking, smoking and getting kicked out of his house. He moved to our area in the same weekend and we began working with him as a group. He said that he wanted to get baptized, but not for a while. So we just resolved ourselves to helping him get clean. After the first lesson with him he no longer had a desire to smoke or drink. He called the other sisters on Friday and said, "Hey so I wanna get baptized this weekend. Can you set asside some time to teach me the rest of the lessons?" We brought the elders and did the interview right after our super long mega lesson!
Yesterday (Sunday) he was baptized. He stood and bore his testimony. He said, "With this gospel I will make my family a forever family. I serve until I die, and then I will serve some more. Because this Gospel saved my life!" It was as if we were all washed clean with the rain. There was a spirit in the ward afterward that caused no one to want to talk. It was very reverent and incredible.
I am so grateful to be a missionary. There really are people out there who are waiting for us to arrive at their door. And most of the time they are the ones you would never think to talk to. TALK TO THEM. You could help save their lives.
On the mission, every day is better than the last! I have desided to make my whole life that way. Happiness is a choice!
I love you all! Chins up! Tomorrow will be better!
Love, Sister Culley
