This week I was so pleased that one of our investigators were able to go to General Conference on Sunday. Sandra is someone we have been working with for a couple weeks now. She is quiting smoking. I called her to see what she thought of Conference, and she told me (smiling through the phone) that she hadn't smoked the whole week, preparing to hear from a Prophet of God. And that she new this is the only true and restored church of Jesus Christ! She told me she needs a little more time for her baptism, because she is inviting her ENTIRE family! I know that miracles are real, and we can change anything in our lives working with Christ as Sandra has.
I absolutely loved Conference. I recieved so many answers to my own questions. I loved the Women's Conference when President Uchtdorf talked about following and accepting the commandments with a happy face. Many times we follow the commandments, but we drag our feet because it is uncomfortable or difficult at first. But just like Sandra, if we can take every commandment as something that will bless our lives (even if we don't understand why in the start) we will be filled with undescribable joy. I know that some commandments look harder than others, but in reality every single one can and will be a blessing in our lives when applied with a HAPPY FACE AND HAPPY HEART. We cannot pick and choose the commandments we follow, God knows exactly what each one of us needs, and didn't skip a single thing. In reality God is constantly raining blessings upon us, but we stand with an umbrella of disobedience or a bad attitude. CLOSE YOUR UMBRELLA and walk forward in faith. We have a prophetic promise that when we do so, we will be washed new and filled with the pure love of Christ.
I am grateful for a living prophet to lead and guide us in these last days. I testify that every word in General Conference is direct revelation from Heaven, and is given to us a commandments. NOT just good advice. The commandments are the string to our kite, it is the thing holding us up in the air, and the moment it is cut we come falling down. They are not restrictions or annoying rules to test us. They are divine guides for a life filled with happiness and joy.
I love you all so much. I hope that you can feel my prayers coming at you from Brazil!
Love, Sister Culley
