Feliz Pascoa!
This Easter Heavenly Father gave us yet another present. He is constantly showing His unconditional love for us. We had the privilege of seeing our investigator, Lazaro, be baptized in some of the most stunning scenery I have every seen. With many in white walking acrossed the beach it looked as if we were being accompanied by angles. The elders were kind enough to wake up extra early and make the treck with us. We were even more blessed when we arrived and everything was prepared by the wonderful members, even baptismal clothes.
I was able to watch as Cida's, Lazaro's mom, eyes filled with tears of joy as her son was emmersed in the waters. As he walked up onto the shores she hugged him and I was reminded of the love of my own mother. How she has been there through all the milestones (and pebbles) in my life. If there was anything that I learned in General Conference this weekend is that there is nothing more sacred and specail than the love that a mom has for her children, and how much Heavenly Father loves His special daughters that decide to sacrifice so much to care for His children.
I am so proud of Lazaro, the first member in his little family, but certainly not the last, to have opened the door to eternal life by entering into the waters of baptism this week. Since I met Lazaro he has been certain about one thing: his desire to be baptized. I saw why on Saturday when his eyes glowed with a quiet surety that he was clean and that Heavenly Father loves him.
Baptism is an emblem of the death and ressurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We are layed down in a watery tomb and our sins our washed away and when we rise up, we rise more perfect and full of light. All of our sins stay in the water. Christ made this spiritual rebirth possible through His infinite atonement. I am so thankful for our opportunity everyday to be a new person!
I love this gospel, and I love my Savior. I am so grateful to be Christ's friend and His representative. And in these last weeks of my mission I am so grateful to know that He is a God of miracles!
I love you all and hope you had a wonderful Easter. If you weren't able to listen to General Conference, there is still time! Please, do not miss this opportunity to hear the voice of our beloved Prophet.
