Hello Family and Friends!
I had another great week! I think every new day should be the best day of our lives. I've tried to begin to think in this perspective. Even if something crummy happened in your day, don't let it over shadow the good that happened. And somedays it may feel as though nothing good happened, but I promise that if you'll look hard enough there will always be something to be grateful for. so turn your frown upside down, because today is the best day of your life! (YOU JUST HAVE TO CHOOSE IT)
I was hurting pretty badly on Friday (don't ask my why, but my back and hip just decided to freak out). But like always, I squared my shoulders, and went to work. Our first visit was our new investigator, Rita. Rita is an inspiration and a reminder that we are VERY blessed. She had a stroke a couple years back and can't move the right side of her body. She lives alone, with absolutely no family to care for her. So, she relies on the kindness of her appartment building.
When we entered her tiny, cement apartment, she began to cry. We immediately noticed that her face was bruised and swollen. She had a convulsion the night before, and fell directly on her face. Her tongue was cut pretty badly and she had trouble speaking.
We thought that surely this must be the reason for her tears. But low and behold, they were tears of joy. She said the night before when she was laying helpless on the floor, she said a prayer, (Like we had taught her). She prayed that even thought it was really late, someone would come to her door. Not long afterwards, a young man she didn't know knocked on her door. He said, "I heard a crash, and thought I should check what it was." Luckily her door was unlocked and he was able to help her up and into bed. The next morning he and his mom make her breakfast (breakfast is somewhat of a luxury for Rita. More often than not she does not have money for food, and goes without).
Tears streamed down her face as she said, "I know everything you've said is true, and that God really does love me." We invited her to be baptized again and she accepted.
You can not convince me that miracles do not exist. This is only one of the miracles I am priviledged to see everyday, her in Brazil and at home amongst my own family.
There is a God, and He loves us. We are His beloved children. Every single one of us have great value in His eyes. His authority and power have been restored to the earth through the Prophet, Joseph Smith, and remains here on the earth through the Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and other honorable men like my two brothers and my dad.
We can know the will of the Father for us and our families through faithful study of His words in the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the words of modern day Prophets. The miracles I have witnessed amongst my family, in Arizona, and here in Brazil testify of three things:
1. Christ is at the head of His true church today and plays a hand in our lives everyday.
2. Angles are at his command and they are on our right hand and our left. they will walk in front and behind us. You have your own army of angles!
3. Prayers ARE answered. WE JUST NEED TO OPEN OUR EYES.
So get on your knees today and thank your Heavenly Father for the best day of your life. and then go and make it happen. Help someone in need and I promise you, the love of Christ you will feel will make this THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE.
I love you all so much! I pray for your safety and protection!
Com muito amor,
Sister Culley
