Hey family and friends! How is everyone?
This week we had a doosey of a transfer! Sister Farias was transferred to Santos to be a Sister Training Leader. And Sister Vargara was transferred too. We recieved four new sisters in my area. That is three companionships! Wow! Before it was just two. And Sister Pratt, (my companion from the MTC) is one of those missionaries. We have 6 sisters. 2 spanish, 2 brazilian, and 2 american sisters.
My new companion is wonderful. Her name is Sister Benites and she is from Argentina. She is way chilled out and always calm. I on the other hand was a little stressed out this weekend. Let me tell you why.
On thursday we held an activity for the ward. A movie night with popcorn. We put up a projector and watch The Other Side of Heaven. Everyone loved it and had a great time. But little did I know how stressful it would be to prepare everything with four new sisters who don`t know much about the area. I probably looked a little crazed by this point, but it all worked out and everyone was happy, So I am happy!
The next day we had a baptism. Little did I know that EVERYONE would work on saturday night. But no problem, I found two people to baptize Rita and two testemonies. Two people to baptize because Rita had a stroke a couple years back and can`t walk. I am not used to filling the font for three people... So I may or may not have flooded the church. Don`t judge me!
The baptism was one of the most spitirual moments of my mission. I have seen an incredible change in Rita. She is a different person now. Miraculously we had the help of so many people that I hadn`t even called that day. I know that the Lord did most of the planning for me because He knows how scatter brained I am this week. We got Rita in and out of the font safely. As usual, the water was freezing... because I cannot for the life of me fix the water heater for the font! But Rita was a good sport and is doing great.
The next day in church we had a goal for people in sacrament meeting of 110. Last week we had 85, and I knew it was going to take a miracle to meet this goal. We had nothing less than a miracle. 112 people were in sacrament meeting. And guess who got to play the piano for all of them? That`s right... I played the piano in church for the first time. I think that responsability sent me over the edge of my nerves! ha ha
I know that this stress is nothing compared to the stress you all are facing, but it is only an example for what I will talk about next. Heavenly Father knows us. He wants to help us with EVERY SINGLE LITTLE THING. And He will. IF WE ALLOW HIM TO HELP US. So when the little things or the big things begin to build upon our shoulders, turn to Him. I don`t know if he will take away your burden, but I do know that He will give you the strength to persevere.
I love you all so much.
Prayers coming at you from Brazil.
Congrats to Riley for getting rid of the biggest tumor in surgery this week! We are warriors to the core!
Love, Sister Culley
